Summertime Fun in the Delaware Valley

Summertime in the Delaware Valley

Swimming pools, backyard BBQs, and cool nights under the stars — can you see the red, white, and blue fireworks in the distance yet? All around the Delaware Valley, seasonal staples are springing to life to celebrate the sweetest season of all: summertime! And it’s only just beginning...

From street festivals to food tastings to hot air balloon rides, there’s so much to experience now that the weather’s calling your name. This summer, venture outside to discover something brand new, whether with a group of friends, your children, or simply by yourself. It’s time to kick back and dive in:

City of Philadelphia

Spruce Street Harbor Park: Hang out in beloved Penn’s Landing along the Delaware River and enjoy boardwalk-style eats, draft beer and cocktails, pop-up gardens, and of course, those colorful hanging lights.

Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest: Get ready to show off your best moves! Next to the park, you can rollerskate in center city (yes, we know it’s a dream come true), and partake in all of the carnival-esque fun.

Clark Park Music and Arts Festival: FYI: there’s a lot of greenery in Philadelphia to enjoy in the summer. Head to Clark Park in West Philly (a dog-friendly favorite!) for a full day of live music, art, food, and more on Saturday, June 25th.

Old City Eats: From its history to its cobblestone streets, there’s so much to love about Old City, especially its delicious restaurants (which offer incredible deals all summer long)! After a two year pause, the Old City Eats returns every Thursday night throughout the summer.

Kidchella: Aside from having the cutest name ever, Kidchella is a concert series that your kids will absolutely love! Enjoy live performances as well as food trucks and art stations at Smith Memorial Playground.

Montgomery County, PA

Ambler Arts & Music Festival: Head out to one of Philadelphia’s most lovable suburbs for a fun-filled festival complete with live music, delicious food, ceramics, jewelry, face painting, a beer garden, and so much more.

US Hot Air Balloon Team: See the world like never before! If you’ve always dreamed of drifting into the sky in a hot air balloon, now’s your chance to create a once-in-a-lifetime memory — and it ends with champagne!

Skippack Village: There’s no place as warm and bright as Skippack Village, an idyllic, upbeat historic strip that offers sweet specials in the summer from local crafts-people, restaurateurs, and shop owners.

Berks County, PA

Penn Street Market: Located in charming Reading, just within half an hour from The Reserves at High Meadow community, this open-air market has everything from food trucks to local produce, while also offering crafts and music for the kids!

Fishing with the Family: If you didn’t know, Berks County is known for some of the best stream and river fishing around! It’s time to get hooked and drop your line among one of 23 different stocked streams!

Reading Fightin Phils: What’s better than a baseball game in the summer? We can’t think of much! If you can’t make it into the city to see an MLB game, stay near home and catch our local Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium!

From all of us at THP Homes, have a happy summertime!
